University of Michigan Med Students Stage Walk-Out While Med School Dean Stands by Pro-Life Doctor

Woke cancel culture is alive and well, but not monolithic, at the University of Michigan medical school where Medical Students for Choice, first attempted to have a pro-life doctor’s speech canceled and then walked out on her as she gave her speech.
Dr. Kristin Collier was scheduled to give the White Coat speech to incoming medical students when the controversy erupted.
Although the speech was not on the subject of abortion or the right to life, Dr. Collier was targeted by the woke pro-abortion student group who accused her of holding positions “antithetical to the tenets of reproductive justice.”
The group circulated a petition to have Dr. Collier’s speech cancelled.
To its credit, the University took the uncommon position of standing for true academic diversity and defended the decision to choose Dr. Collier as a speaker for the White Coat speech.
We have received both positive and negative feedback on the choice of our keynote speaker. The White Coat Ceremony is not a platform for discussion of controversial issues, and Dr. Collier never planned to address a divisive topic as part of her remarks. Our values speak about honoring the critical importance of diversity of personal thought and ideas, which is foundational to academic freedom and excellence. We would not revoke a speaker because they have different personal ideas than others.

After what must have been a stressful event, Dr. Collier posted a message of thanks on her Twitter account to all who supported her.
Meanwhile pro-abortion foes continued to harass the young doctor, calling for Dr. Collier to be fired from the university.
