Six Pro-Abortion Republicans Block State's Abortion Ban

Six South Carolina pro-abortion Republicans joined every Democrat to filibuster a bill that recently passed the South Carolina House and that would have protected the right to life of all babies except those conceived through rape.

Senator Tom Davis filibustered the bill and rallied four other pro-abortion Republicans to vote against cloture. The cloture vote, which would have ended the filibuster, required 26 votes, and Republicans were only able to muster 24 votes even though they boast a 30-16 majority in the Senate.

RINO Senator Tom Davis parroted pro-abortion talking points by stating that his daughters had pleaded with him not to approve the pro-life law.

“The moment we become pregnant we lose all control over what goes on with our bodies,” Davis said, supposedly recounting what his daughters told him. “I’m here to tell you I’m not going to let it happen.”

Senator Davis is part of the Republican establishment, having previously served as chief of staff to former governor Mark Sanford. After his successful filibuster he proceeded to post articles by the Washington Post, The New York Times, and NPR proudly showcasing his part in defeating the pro-life bill.

If you are in South Carolina, please contact your local legislators by using our Voter Voice platform and tell them you are disappointed in them and demand that all those who voted against the pro-life bill be replaced by helping to recruit strong conservative pro-life primary opponents. You can also call them directly using the phone numbers below.
