After a political battle between pro-lifers and the city council, Odessa, Texas becomes a sanctuary city for the preborn.

Mark Lee Dickson of East Texas Right to Life and Sanctuarycitiesfortheunborn.com announced on Twitter that the medium sized town of Odessa, located in the western part Texas, had passed an ordinance outlawing abortion after a two year battle where local pro-lifers organized to reshape the local city council around the pro-life cause.

Victory After A Two-Year Battle

In a guest editorial written for LiveAction.org Mark Lee Dickson tells the story of how local city council members tried to derail and stall out the pro-life ordinance but how the local population organized to vote in a new city council that promised and delivered.

Earlier this week, the city of Pueblo Colorado used underhanded tactics, including silencing debate, to defeat a novel ordinance that would have circumvented the state’s radical pro-abortion law to protect women and children from abortion in the low-income majority Hispanic city in South Central Colorado. Undoubtedly, pro-lifers in Pueblo will draw inspiration from the victory in Odessa to change the composition of the Pueblo City Council and try again in the next session.
